Lake County Legislators Meet With Parents and Teachers

"This is the Year to Build the Community Family Center" (http://triblocal.com/highland-park-highwood/community/stories/2011/01/this-is-the-year-to-build-the-community-family-center/)

The Community Family Center (CFC) project will bring together in a single modern building five child care and family service agencies that currently serve approximately 3,500 participants in scattered sites in Highland Park and Highwood.  The agencies are: Highland Park Community Nursery and Day Care Center; Tri-Con Child Care Center; Highland Park/Highwood Home Child Care Association; Family Service: Prevention, Education & Counseling NFP; and Family Network.

The agencies will remain as independent service providers, housed in the newly remodeled Karger Center situated in the center of Highland Park, although the day care programs plan to merge at that time.   The City of Highland Park is leasing the building to the CFC for a nominal rent.  Aided by their location in the same building, the agencies will be able to cooperate more fully with each other in providing needed programs for social and educational services to children, families and adults.

Operating together, the five agencies will provide integrated and coordinated services for local families in a facility containing counseling rooms, class rooms, a library, play areas, and administrative offices.

The future health and vibrancy of the nation’s communities depend upon the availability of quality services for children, families and adults.  Our goal is to centralize and expand the operations of the five agencies in greatly improved facilities, creating synergies in service delivery and achieving cost savings.
